A couple of years back TSG released Buchi Global Edition Irons and Wedges and while it was received with a lot of excitement the lead times were a major disappointment with custom sets taking over 4 months to produce. TSG will begin offering the standard Buchi clubs which thankfully are in stock and readily available with custom build shaft/grip/specs.
Master Tabuchi-san is currently ranked as one of the top Grinders in Himeji Japan and his skills are in high demand as he has his own style of grind and shaping that can be seen in his work. The difference is often a more rounded shape with some very compact heads and while this iron looks sharp and edgy from different angles it is soft and smooth. Ready to see those angles? The Above address pic shows minimal offset, a shorter heel to toe length than most blades and rounded corners all around, the curves in my opinion are what makes Buchi clubs so versatile and easy to use most noticeable is how they slide through the turf effortlessly.
From the face it's another rounded angle not only making them visually appealing but the overall design add's a softness to impact that is unique to the brand and quite addictive. This design is an interesting one, it's considered a blade yet there is a lot of cavity built in and it also performs more forgiving than most compact player's cavity back irons available today. I've briefly hit a prototype about a year ago of this design but things have changed with the design, it has evolved and the performance is supposed to be even better in it's final release. Reviews to come and keep on the lookout for the Buchi VS200 MB in the TSG Pro Shop.
